You can only make a profit by delivering great service. You can only deliver a great service by having, well, by having people who feel happy, feel well rested, feel well nourished, feel motivated.
There’s no question for me that happy workplaces are more productive, the evidence is very clear. It’s clear from people who have analysed stock market performance of companies — happy workplaces outperform other workplaces because they get the best out of people.
And, even if it wasn’t true, let’s say it was true that if you are really mean and nasty to people they perform better… who’d want to run that sort of company? You know, I wouldn’t. But, fortunately it is true, and so by running… so, my challenge is to make sure that we stick to those principles, and don’t get dragged aside. My challenge isn’t to go down some nasty route of shouting at people a lot.
Henry Stewart speaks to the Eth Word about management and creating happy, engaged workplaces in this short interview, part of a series of videos.
“You can only make a profit by delivering great service,” says Henry Stewart, founder and Chief Happiness Officer at Happy. “You can only deliver a great service by having people who feel happy, feel well rested, feel well nourished, feel motivated.”
How different would your organisation be if it was led with the principle that happy staff make happy customers?
