Train the IT Trainer Essentials 2 Day Workshop

Whether you’re a complete beginner to training, or simply looking for more formal support, this two-day workshop will give you your first opportunity to learn what makes training great.

In line with the principles being taught, the course will itself be learner focused. You will get the benefit of Happy’s extensive knowledge of training and will also learn from their own experiences.

Course Overview

Training someone to use technology is more than just showing them what to click—it’s about helping them feel confident, capable and supported. This course equips you with the techniques to design IT sessions that are simple, effective and enjoyable.

You’ll learn how to structure your training, break down technical topics into digestible chunks, and create a positive, learner-led environment. You’ll also practise delivering training in a safe space and get feedback to help you grow.

Why Take This Course?

  • Build confidence in delivering IT training—even if you’ve never done it before
  • Learn how to teach technical content clearly and simply
  • Design sessions that meet the needs of different learners
  • Develop practical tools to manage questions and adapt on the fly
  • Create a positive learning environment where people feel safe to try

Advanced preparation

On the morning of the first day, you will be expected to give a five-minute training session. Please choose and prepare a topic to train. You will be training fellow participants who may come from all kinds of backgrounds, so please select a topic that does not require any special previous knowledge. This can be in any of the following Office 365 packages: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Edge, Windows Explorer or My Computer (Outlook is not available). PCs, flipcharts and pens will be available on the day.

FAQs

What if I have a Mac?

If you are a Mac user, please let us know when booking. If the course is held in the classroom at Happy, the training is held on PCs so we recommend that you bring your Macbook with you (we are not able to provide an additional monitor). For online training, please let us know when booking and you can use your Mac as normal. We provide a PDF with shortcuts for Mac users and your trainer will refer to this throughout the training.
